Did you know that owls are birds of prey, or raptors as they are also known as – a raptor is a bird that has a sharp beak and sharp talons (or claws), that they use to catch and eat their food. Ornithologists (a person who studies birds) believe that there are no less than 155 different owls throughout the world! Here at the Cornish Birds of Prey we have a range of rehomed and hand reared owls, including British owls such as the Barn Owl, European owls such as the Great Grey Owl (our own Great Grey Cobweb as pictured), the European Eagle Owl, Snowy Owl, Canadian Great Horned Owl and many more. We are pleased to offer both a 1 hour handling experience and a half day owl experience – where you can get up close and personal with our owls, learning more about them whilst getting hands on! It really is a great opportunity to be a part of their lives for a short while, and get closer to them than you ever would in the wild.
Our owl experiences are available from the 1st of April to the 31st of October, and are ‘one to one’ unless you wish to participate with a friend/family member – which we welcome.
All of our owl experiences are completely hands-on with you flying the birds yourself under the supervision of our experienced falconer.
A spectator – be it a friend or family member, is able to accompany the person doing the experience to take photos/video or to just watch them enjoy their experience for the entrance fee of £8.00.
1hr Handling Owls (1st Apr – 31st Oct) £30.
Half Day Owl Experience (1st Apr – 31st Oct) – Handling and Flying £65.
Please Note: The minimum age for Owl Experiences is 14.
We have found that our experiences make a great, unique and very personal present, because of this gift vouchers are now available from our online shop, and are valid for twelve months from the date of purchase.
